Abstract

This research aims at elucidating the concept of "Al-Mawsoul Lefthan" [connected in spelling] to "Al-Mafsool Ma'nan" [disconnected in meaning], its relationship with "waqf" [stopping] and "ibtida" [beginning], and how the various readings of Quran have influenced it in directing complex meanings. The study also seeks to clarify the forms of "Al-Mawsoul Lefthan" to "Al-Mafsool Ma'nan" in light of the differences in Quranic readings, employing a descriptive and inductive approach. The researcher highlights prominent forms of "Al-Mawsoul Lefthan" to "Al-Mafsool Ma'nan" and their representation. Through this, it becomes evident that many interpreters and Quranic reading instructors have referred to and used this terminology with different expressions and words, especially in relation to the complexity of meanings in the readings. This usage has had a significant impact on directing and resolving meanings, as well as addressing and explaining difficulties. Among the notable methods they employed in directing "Al-Mawsoul Lefthan" to "Al-Mafsool Ma'nan" are: "Al-iltifat" (diversion), "Al-istinaf" (resumption), and the visual representation in Quran. The researcher recommends directing studies toward this branch of "waqf" and "ibtida" through an investigation of the scholars' terminology used when referring to it. Additionally, it is suggested to study it as presented by Al-Ashmooni, who frequently mentions it in his book on "waqf" and "ibtida."
