This research aims to study the written documentation, its forms and importance in Islamic jurisprudence through an examination of hadith narrated by Ibn Omer, may Allah be pleased with them both, and how this hadith can be utilized to highlight the significance of documentation in safeguarding rights. He will adopt a descriptive, inductive-deductive methodology, focusing on authenticating the hadith from the two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim) as well as verifying other narrations from the four books of hadiths. The study will also delve into the legal rulings derived by scholars from the hadith. The researcher concludes that documentation aligns with the principle that a person does not truly own themselves, let alone others, hence they are instructed to leave a testament written down at their head-side every three days. Scholars have categorized documentation into various types including writing, testimony, mortgage, guarantee, and sponsorship. The researcher recommends Islamic countries, relevant ministries, and affiliated organizations to develop informational and awareness programs leveraging social media to promote a culture of documentation. They also suggest training legal scribes and trustees on best practices for documentation while emphasizing the importance of avoiding any manipulation of wording that does not serve the document holder or preserve people's rights succinctly.
