Abstract

This research addresses the issue of discrepancies in the exchange of the old and new Yemeni currency in light of the political division in Yemen. This research is of great importance since it sheds light on an issue that has arisen due to the political reality taking place today in Yemen. There is a dire need to clarify the legal stand regarding this issue. The research aims to know the rules that govern the exchange of currency with its similar and different currency in Islamic jurisprudence. The researcher used the inductive descriptive analytical method. The study consists of an introduction that deals with the concept of exchange and its ruling, and two other sections. The first section includes banknotes, their reality and ruling, while the second section deals with explaining the ruling on the discrepancy in the exchange of the old and new Yemeni currency. The research concludes several results, among them: the old and new Yemeni currency are only one type, and it is forbidden to differentiate between them, and the legal way is to sell each type of the old and new editions in the currency of another country and then dispose it in any other currency.
